It can be easy to fall off or get distracted from your goals and resolutions, so if and when it happens, give yourself some grace. Decide if you must get back on tract and take time to do so. Be reminded that you are human. We all fall off tract sometimes, but the key is to refocus and get back to it.

As you begin working on your goals, what are some tools to help you keep up the momentum?

Here are a few tips to get you started towards achieving your goals.

  1. Start each day with gratitude. Acknowledge what is good in your life, what’s right, what are you thankful for? This encourages a positive attitude. Having a positive attitude sets the tone for your day and opens the door for positive change, showing gratitude reminds you of what you already have and that it is enough, and in case you did not know, you are enough.
  2. Create and Recite a positive affirmation daily. This can be in the form and positive phrase about yourself or any challenge you may be facing. Write or post it somewhere and read it to yourself daily. Some examples: “I am beautiful, I am Love, I am full of courage. I am approaching my desired body weight, I am so cool, I can do this.” Its a New Year, a new you, a new opportunity.
  3. Appreciate and take advantage of the power of your breath. Take time to be in the present moment and breathe deeply. Inhale through your nose, counting to 5, exhale through your mouth counting to 5. This allows you to stop and reset in any moment, giving your body essential oxygen opening up your mind allowing, you to go forward with clarity. Furthermore, during this “life appreciation break” you can be aware of your feelings, your surroundings, savor your current experience and just be in the moment. Every moment is a gift.
  4. Speak only positivity into your life, watch your language. Instead of speaking limiting statements, speak empowering statements, because what you say, mirrors what you believe, and what you believe affects the way you perceive your life. Some examples: “I can… I choose… I am successful at… I am amazing at…”
